Hello everyone. This is Monica at Life Chiropractic and Acupuncture Center. Today we are going to talk about acupuncture and allergies.
Common signs and symptoms of allergies are post-nasal drip, sinus pressure, sinus headaches, runny nose, itchy nose and eyes, and a whole lot more. In terms of Chinese medicine, allergies develop when the defensive barrier between the body and an external environment is weak. That’s when people feel these signs and symptoms. With acupuncture, we try to improve that immunity, or improve the strength to fight against these external pathogens.
There are some common points that we use. Our external point is Stomach 36 which helps our defensive Chi to improve and boost energy; we use some local points to drain the maxillary sinuses and the other sinuses; and there are some other points that clear the nasal passage or help with nasal drainage.
